New tires are worth buying as a matched set on at least one axle, since mixing tread depths or patterns front-to-back changes how the car grips in the wet and can strain an all-wheel-drive system. Indianapolis Tire Shop mounts, balances, and fits new tires the same visit, serving the 20 areas the shop covers around Indianapolis.
Buying new tires is usually less about the tread pattern and more about matching what's already on the car. An all-wheel-drive vehicle especially needs close to the same circumference on every corner, since a big difference in tread depth between axles can strain the drivetrain in ways that have nothing to do with the tires themselves. If you're replacing because of one unrepairable flat, we'll tell you honestly whether that means one tire, a pair on the same axle, or the full set — it depends on how worn the other three already are, not on what's easiest to sell.
Ordering tires online and having them shipped somewhere for mounting is common now, and that's fine with us — we mount tires that arrive from outside the shop about as often as tires bought here. What matters is having them balanced and installed by someone who checks the work before you drive off, whichever way the rubber got sourced.
Do I need to replace all four, or just the worn ones?
On a front- or rear-wheel-drive car, replacing one or two tires is usually fine as long as the remaining tires still have reasonably close tread depth — too big a gap and the car handles differently corner to corner. On an all-wheel-drive vehicle, the math is stricter, and mismatched tread depth across axles is one of the more common ways people end up straining a transfer case without realizing the tires were the cause.
What's included when I buy tires here?
A new tire installation includes mounting, balancing, new valve stems, and hauling away the old tires — you're not left storing four worn tires in the garage wondering what to do with them. Current hours: Mon–Fri 9:00 AM – 5:30 PM, Sat 9:00 AM – 5:00 PM, closed Sun.
- Mounting, balancing, and new valve stems
- Old tire disposal
- A quick tread and pressure check on the tires that aren't being replaced
Can I bring tires I bought somewhere else?
Yes — we mount and balance tires regardless of where they were purchased, and the install gets the same valve-stem and torque treatment either way.
Should I get an alignment when I buy new tires?
Worth checking, especially if the old tires wore unevenly. Uneven wear on the tires you're replacing is usually a sign the alignment was off, and putting new tires on top of that just repeats the problem.
Do you take the old tires?
Yes, disposal is part of the job.
